Sally Allen is a Singer and Vocal Coach based in Austin Texas.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri and emersed in the church choir and piano lessons at a very young age, Sally grew up with a true love of music and the creation of music. She was also an athlete and ran cross country in high school in Dallas and in college at TCU. During her last year of college, she began performing as a singer/songwriter in the local Fort Worth clubs. She released her first album, “Roughly Forgiven” in 1999. Soon after performed in the Deep Ellum / Dallas area.

A move to Los Angeles led to a meaningful three years of creative growth where she further developed her voice and sound. She aligned with a creative community in Venice and released her second album, “Left of Me” in 2002.

Still developing as an artist, Sally moved to Brooklyn for a year and collaborated with musicians in the local Park Slope music lounge scene.

Wanting a place to call home, and craving a comfortable climate with down to earth people, Sally moved to Austin in 2005. She became a mother to the best boy in the world, Kru Allen in 2009. During his infancy she began working with other singers as a vocal coach. Witnessing and guiding someone within the process of finding and using their authentic voice became a big passion for her.

While performing her songs in many Austin venues, she entered into the session world and became known as a top backup singer for hire. In 2015 she joined the Austin based funk soul band, Shinyribs. She toured the country performing backing vocals for the brilliant voice that is Kevin Russell. Being a part of the 2017 “I got your medicine” Shinyribs recording was a huge highlight in Sally’s career. She became one of the “Shiny Soul Sisters” along with Alice Spencer until 2018. During her time with Shinyribs, she continued to write and record at her home studio and released a third album, “Eight Track Sessions” in 2016. She was experimenting with beats and guitar sounds and considers this record to be pointing towards the more realized sounds of her fourth 2021 album, “Among the Living”.

Sally has recently recorded two new pop songs to be released as singles this Winter 2022. Be on the lookout for new sounds and fresh new performances as Sally is only getting stronger and more dedicated to her life’s work as an artist.

Sally can be found weekly at Space ATX where she coaches singers. She is also presenting a series of talks about singing this Fall and Winter at Space ATX.
